When at the masjid - tag & Ramadan Story

Assalam alaikum & Peace to all

Well I'm finally getting to this tag...it took some time to
come up with something!

I'm tagging you.. so your masjid.. is it clean? tidy? well presented?
do you have pictures to share? The main question, if you were given
the ability and the push to post 3 ahadith around your praying area
what would they be?
feel free to give any reasoning behind your choices.

Well, the one I went to the most this past Ramadan is very
clean and tidy (mashallah) - well presented - I'm not sure
what is meant by this? There is a space for women upstairs
that is 'ok', not great but not much to do, at least there is a
space dedicated. So on to the three hadiths!

The first one is a very short one but I think it carries
so much meaning!

Volume 3, Book 50, Number 876:

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah:

I gave the pledge of allegiance to Allah's Apostle for offering
the prayers perfectly paying the Zakat
and giving good advice to every Muslim.


So many times, I have seen people in the Mosque hurrying and not
performing the prayers correctly or in a hurried manner!
The Zakat - charity, I really wish to see much more of this as well!
As for the last one of giving good advice, wish more would adhere
to that and not just give advice that the person wants to hear or
worse the opinion/critique of the advisor!

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 23:

Narrated Ibn Umar:

One of the wives of Umar (bin Al-Khattab) used to offer the Fajr and the 'Isha' prayer in congregation in the Mosque. She was asked why she had come out for the prayer as she knew that Umar disliked it, and he has great ghaira (self-respect). She replied, "What prevents him from stopping me from this act?" The other replied, "The statement of Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) : 'Do not stop Allah's women-slave from going to Allah s Mosques' prevents him.

I like this Hadith because it shows that Women are allowed to
go to the mosque to pray if they wish and have no other
family commitments to attend to. I would want to post this
in the Mosque as a reminder to all!! Especially the women!

Volume 1, Book 3, Number 101:

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:

Some women requested the Prophet to fix a day for them as the men were taking all his time. On that he promised them one day for religious lessons and commandments. Once during such a lesson the Prophet said, "A woman whose three children die will be shielded by them from the Hell fire." On that a woman asked, "If only two die?" He replied, "Even two (will shield her from the Hell-fire)."

I would love to plaster this somewhere on the walls!
KNOWLEDGE FOR ALL - MEN & WOMEN
As shown by this Hadith - women were entitled to learn just as much
as the men had! Can we please live up to these words and follow them!!

Well these are my picks for the Hadiths! Nice post Ammena!! Was a
great challenge to find these Hadiths but in the process I read a lot of
them - which is always a good thing!

I just wanted to share quickly one of my Ramadan stories.
Hubby and I had met up with another couple at the mosque - this
was actually the night of Laylatul-Qadar and the mosque was very
very crowded. Went inside and people were already sitting at the
tables waiting to break the fast - I quickly went upstairs and did
my 2 rakats for entering the Mosque (got a few strange glances too)
and decided that I would wait upstairs because the time for prayer
was very soon - well I sat there but they did not come up. So I
decided I would go down and try and get a seat - somehow I did
get one! Then we broke the fast with dates and all the women were
starting to go upstairs. One sister turned to me and said ' will you
stay here and watch my things?' Not sure why she assumed I would
not be going up with them to pray? I just told her that I am going up
as well, she smilled and said 'ok'.
We went and prayed and came down, had a lovely Iftar.
That night we stayed for the Taraweeh prayers, and I must say it
was the best one for me yet! I have to scream this from the top
of my lungs - THE WOMEN GOT TO PRAY BEHIND THE MEN!
Ok, so maybe it's not a big deal to some but it was for me!
The problem was that the women's area was too full and we were
all just standing on the steps - when the Imam said to the men
'please come more forward and make room for the sisters'
Woo hoo...I couldn't believe it! I rushed downstairs to be a part
of the Sisters who would be there and I ended up in the second row!
It truly was a better expereince to see and hear the Imam right
infront of you and all through the prayer I couldn't help but have in
the back of my mind that this Iman had done as the Prophet had
done - in allowing the women to pray behind the men!
