Well now you know...

Assalam alaikum & Peace to all

Just a short post to let you all know what I have been up to. As most of you know it was Christmas day on the 25th - spent the 24th with my mom (Note to Ammena - nothing happened with her, somehow the subject didn't come up and I couldn't bring myself to tell her anything...inshallah one day) So the 25th we were invited to some friend's house for dinner. There was six of us in total and we had a good time, laughing and having a nice meal. During the meal one of the people there goes to my husband 'so did you go to church?' (Insert dumbfounded look) I look at the person and make a face, and then the person realized what they were saying, 'oh sorry' Then the same person turns towards me and asks me if I went. (Once again a dumbfounded look) I just go, 'noooo' then the person goes oh your Orthodox right' I just say no, I'm not. 'Oh then you are protestant' Once again, nooo. In sheer frustration the person goes, 'your Presbyterian?' Then the other couple who was there (who knew what I am) says Muslim. Hubby goes, 'yes we're Muslims' - I must just interject that it was the nicest comment I have heard from hubby, it was so moving that he said "we're" mashallah. So anyway this person is reeling from the news (wasn't expecting me to be Muslim) saying, 'realllllyyyyy?' I said, yes reallllyyyyy. Then goes, 'wow I didn't know that' My comment back was, "Well, now you know"
It really was a new experience for me, as I have never really publically said I am Muslim but that night I felt proud to say it. Inshallah one day my family will know and the rest of my friends. Truly it was a bit liberating to finally get it out into the open, so that makes about six people who know I am Muslim. Perhaps one day the most important people will also know!

I do feel like that Ammena... I felt so good afterwards telling them but then I know my family wouldn't have taken it very well at all...so I didn't have a great desire to reveal all to them!
Inshallah it will become easier for all of us!!
Thanks for the comments!
