Ramadan day 6

Assalam alaikum & Peace to all

Ramadan day 6 has come and gone...mashallah it really does get a bit easier...it is still a trial and an effort but alhamduillah I have been able get through these 6 days...inshallah I can continue for the rest.

I know that this month is about reflection, prayer and readings...I have been struggling a little bit with all that. I just have to set my priorities and hopefully I will be able to do more of these things.

The other thing I have always struggled with was what to cook.  Well this year I am using Google calendar and documents.  I make up menus (full meals) and put them into each day on the calendar, so that each day I know what I am going to make - without having to wonder and think all day.  I use the document section to make up grocery lists and ideas.  Mashallah this way I have been able to stay on top of things.

So here are my menu ideas that I did so far (I'm posting it so that maybe someone gets some
ideas of what to cook - Im not boasting

Tuesday Lentil Soup - Meat Loaf - M. Potatoes
Wednesday -  Tomato Soup - Beef w/Mushrooms - pasta w/ yogurt
Thursday - Tomato  Soup -Eggplant/G. Beef - rice/orzo-tomato salad
Friday - Leftovers (LOL)
Saturday - Yogurt Soup-Eggplant stew-rice/orzo - tomato salad
Sunday - Yogurt/chickpea Soup - Linguini w/beef tomato sauce
Monday - Leftovers
Tuesday - Potato Soup - “Fried Sesame Chicken” - Rice/Orzo -tomato salad (Inshallah)

Sounds pretty good! I suck at planning what to eat and also made a small plan of what I wanted to make. I got sick after and didn't make food for a couple days but today I'm probably making a new list for the next couple days and going grocery shopping.

I don't know what I'm eating when but in the next couple days, I'm going to make salmon with some veggies. I like to keep it simple but yummy so I clean some potatoes and microwave them a bit (to make like baked potatoes) and then cut them up to roast with the rest of the vegetables (broccoli, green pepper, carrots, those long pea things, etc.) with some vegetable broth and bbq vegetable spice mix.

I will probably make a chicken casserole thing with a can of cream of chicken soup and broccoli, with cheese on top.

Some sort of pasta, maybe with shrimp and an envelope of whatever sauce I want with added mushrooms in it.

Sheppard's pie. Don't know if you guys make that in Ontario?

And I often make a tomatoe, cucumber and chick pea salad to go with things. Sometimes lentil soup. Or just green mixed salad.

Hope those ideas helped!!

Hey, if you have a recipe for potatoe soup, I've never tried to make any and would love to try! :P As long as it's very simple because I suck at cooking!
